A construction worker from Dutchess County was killed in a workplace accident involving an overturned excavator at a job site in Putnam, police said.
The incident happened on Wednesday, April 30, shortly after 9:30 a.m., when Carmel Police were notified of a workplace accident with injuries at a construction site at 6 Baldwin Place Rd., the department announced on Thursday, May 1.

A fast-moving fire in Norwalk destroyed a home on Monday, March 24, but, thankfully, no one was injured.
Firefighters were called to 2 Morton St. around 10:50 a.m. to a blaze at the two-and-a-half-story home. The house had items stacked to the ceiling making for an "unusually heavy fire load," crews said.
Firefighters had to bring in an excavator to dismantle portions of the upper roof, walls, and chimneys because they were likely to collapse, Norwalk crews said.
