A quick-thinking School Resource Officer in Dutchess County is being credited with saving a 12-year-old student who began choking during lunch at a middle school, authorities said.
The incident happened on Thursday, March 20, a little after noon, when Red Hook Police Officer David Schmitz, who was present in the school cafeteria, noticed a student in visible distress at the Linden Avenue Middle School cafeteria, the Red Hook Police Department said on Friday, March 21.

Eugene Cosby, a 48-year-old Malaga resident, Will El-Bey, a 28-year-old Vineland resident and Clifton Bailey, a 33-year-old Camden resident were convicted for the murder of Joseph Jones, 37, last fall, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
