Plainfield's Rashan Gary Drafted By Packers In First Round Plainfield native Rashan Gary was drafted by the Green Bay Packers Thursday, going 12th overall in the NFL draft.  A 6'4", 277-lb. defensive end, Gary, who attended Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School before transferring to Paramus Catholic, was the No.1-ranked recruit among high school seniors in 2016. He eventually went to Michigan, where he played three seasons.  Gary earned All-Big 10 honors in his sophomore year at Michigan and was a first-team pick for the Wolverines again in 2018.  He's expected to become an instant starter by the NFL.

2019 NFL Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars Select Montclair's Josh Allen The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected Montclair's Josh Allen with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.  The University of Kentucky defender has a "tireless motor" and was one of the best pass rushers and defenders in the SEC last season, BigCatCountry.com reports. Allen played one year of football at Montclair High School (his senior year having transferred from a small school in Alabama) and went on to play at Kentucky. White Plains resident Da’Sean Downey, a former defensive end for the University of Massachusetts, has been picked up by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent following the NFL draft last month. Downey was named to the first-team Eastern College Athletic Conference squad after becoming a full-time starter as a senior.
