Atlantic Hurricane Season Starts: Outlook For 2019 Revealed By US Forecasters Between nine and 15 named storms, including includes tropical storms, are predicted to form in the Atlantic this year,  the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced on Friday, May 24. Active Hurricane Season Predicted By NOAA With the start of hurricane season just a day away, there is a 75-percent chance that the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season will be near- or above-normal, according to a new report released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center.
