Authorities have released the names of those involved in a violent shootout in Baltimore this week that left a police officer injured and a gunman dead. Bilal Yusuf-Muhammad Abdullah Jr., 36, of Baltimore, was fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire with police near Pennsylvania Avenue and Laurens Street on the night of Tuesday, June 17, according to the Maryland Attorney General’s Office. A new chief of police in the region is no stranger to the area; he grew up there and has been part of the department for some 30 years. Dutchess County resident Rich Wilson has been named the Chief of Police for the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department by Mayor Yvonne Flowers on Tuesday, Oct. 15. A Connecticut cop has been arrested for family domestic violence including strangulation and placed on leave from his job. New Haven Police Officer Ruben Parra, was arrested Friday, Jan. 28, after officials from the North Branford Police Department presented information to the State's Attorney's for a warrant, said Scott Shumway of the New Haven PD. Police are investigating after a man was found dead from gunshot wounds inside a Fairfield County home when officers responded to a disturbance call. A 34-year-old Paterson police officer died Easter Sunday morning at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center of complications from the coronavirus, authorities said.
