A Virginia teacher and her young family is starting the new school year in survival mode after a fast-moving fire tore through their apartment building, destroying nearly everything they own just days before classes begin.
Around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, Heather Bordelon Harbin was forced to evacuate with other residents in her building when lanscaping outside caught fire, likely due to a cigarette butt discarded into the bushes.

Mall Fire Spurs South Jersey Homeschool Association's Likely Move, Campaign Says
A fire at the Voorhees Town Center on Friday, April 19, has prompted the South Jersey Homeschool Association to look for a new home, according to a campaign devoted to the cause.
The association estimates it needs $60,000 to clean up soot and smoke damage, replace unusable items, for legal costs and to secure a new location pending negotiations with the landlord.
