Two Victims Named In North Philly Speakeasy Shooting: Authorities Philadelphia police have named the two people who were killed in a shooting in North Philadelphia early Sunday morning, Jan. 14.  Authorities said they were called to a suspected speakeasy, or unlicensed bar, on the 2400 block of Myrtlewood Street just before 1 a.m. They arrived to find six people suffering from gunshot wounds, the department told Daily Voice.  Edison Frazier, 53, of West Philadelphia, was shot in the face.  Christopher Smith, 41, of North Philadelphia, was shot multiple times in the chest.  Both men were pronounced dead at the scene just after 1 a.m.,…

Philly 'Speakeasy' Owner Guilty Of Gun Charge: Feds A Philadelphia man who owned an illegal "speakeasy" was convicted of illegal firearms possession in federal court on Wednesday, Feb. 1, authorities say.  Edward Burgess, 45, was found guilty at trial of owning a gun as a convicted felon, said US Attorney Jacqueline C. The Roosevelt will be moving into the space formerly home to  Taos Restaurant, on Paterson Avenue in East Rutherford, according to its Facebook page. The restaurant is designed to look just like a speakeasy, with brushed, gold chandeliers in the saloon, pendant lights, and deco wallpaper to reflect the style of the Prohibition Era.
