Transformer Fire Sparks Near School In New Rochelle: Hundreds Without Power A transformer fire that began near an elementary school in Westchester has left hundreds in the dark.  The blaze happened on Wednesday morning, Dec. 11 on Pelham Road near Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle, according to Con Edison. At one point on Wednesday morning, 528 customers were without power as a result of the incident. However, as of 2:10 p.m., only one remained in the dark.  The fire also affected Trinity Elementary, which experienced intermittent outages. Transformer Fire Closes Part Of Busy Roadway In Hudson Valley: Developing A blaze has caused part of a busy Hudson Valley route to close in both directions. In Putnam County, Route 312 in the town of Southeast is closed to traffic in both directions at the intersection with Interstate 84 late Monday morning, Sept. 25, according to reports.  The closure was caused by a transformer fire in the area. The Met-Ed substation on Lombard Road in Windsor Township caught fire in the morning, according to Met-Ed. Outages have been reported throughout the Dallastown and Red Lion area, according to the company's website. The cause of the fire is unknown. No injuries have been reported. Home Catches Fire After Lightning Strike In Putnam A house struck by lightning in Putnam County during a thunderstorm on Wednesday was saved by firefighters with the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
