International Gang Ties Possible In ‘Historic’ LI Gun, Drug Bust: Authorities
Six suspects with possible ties to an international gang were arrested for selling guns and drugs across Nassau County on Thursday, July 16, authorities said.
“This was a takedown of historic proportions that will not only make Nassau County safer, but the whole region,” said County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who is running for governor.
The case was revealed Friday, July 17, with prosecutors and police announcing the seizure of 47 illegal guns, 900 grams of cocaine and 150 grams of heroin, according to the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.

John Gotti’s grandson had his prison sentence delayed again Friday, July 17, so he can donate a kidney to his mother.
Carmine G. Agnello, 40, will be allowed to report to federal prison on Sept. 18 as long as the surgery proceeds as scheduled on Aug. 3, Newsday reported.
Agnello, of Oyster Bay, has battled sentencing in the case for months, though he pleaded guilty to fraud back in September 2024 and got 15 months behind bars. He first claimed he had to donate the kidney to his mother, Victoria Gotti, back in March, but the surgery never happened.

A wild police chase that ended in the Capital District uncovered more than 500 pounds of marijuana and led to two arrests, state police said.
Torrey Jackson, 39, and Tori Rushlow, 29, were captured at the end of the chase in Wilton on Thursday, July 16, New York State Police said. They were hit with numerous charges, including attempted aggravated assault on a police officer and first-degree weed possession, and held without bail.

A Long Island mother has died from breast cancer after a three-year battle with the disease.
Dana Kropp, of Northport, died Monday, July 13 at age 31, according to online accounts of her fight. A fundraiser launched for her husband and young daughter had raised more than $120,000 by Friday, July 17.

Deadly Head-On Wreck With Motorcycle Leads To NY Man’s Guilty Plea: Authorities
A New York man has pleaded guilty in a deadly car crash last year, in which police said he was impaired, authorities announced Friday, July 17.
Jacob Snide, 34, admitted to second-degree manslaughter in the death of Patrick LaFortune Jr. in the Capital Region, the Albany County District Attorney’s office said.
Snide, of Ravena, crossed over the center yellow line and struck LaFortune, 32, while the victim was driving a motorcycle the other way, prosecutors said. Snide will face a maximum of 12 years in prison at sentencing on Sept. 10, according to authorities.
